NATCHEZ — An 18-year-old male was shot on Garden Street late Wednesday afternoon and hours later an acquaintance was shot on King Circle in the county.
Jermaine Albert, 18 Magnolia St., was shot once in his right side. Terrance Green, 18, No. 5 Garden St., has been charged in the incident.
The shooting reportedly took place outside of Green’s house.
Albert was transported to Natchez Regional Medical Center moments after the shooting as a flock of witnesses watched. He was conscious.
As of 7:15 Wednesday night, Albert was in surgery.
Green has been charged with aggravated assault and is currently being held at the city jail, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
The incident had many witnesses, and, as of Wednesday night, the police were still conducting interviews.
“We have several witnesses we’re interviewing at this time,” Mullins said.
The call came in at 4:40 p.m. and officers arrived at the scene to a crowd of people.
Another man was injured after a water balloon fight escalated to shooting Wednesday night.
Cartrell Carridine, 21, 204 Dumas Drive, the victim in the second shooting was reportedly present at the Garden Street shooting.
A fight that started in the youth center in the Maryland Heights area moved to the Broadmoor Subdivison ballpark at approximately 7:50 p.m., sheriff’s deputy Maj. Jody Waldrop said.
A large group moved with the fight from one area to another and deputies were called to the scene on King Circle.
“As they were breaking up the fight they heard three to four shots fired,” Waldrop said.
“The adult male had a flesh wound to the arm, in and out.”
Carridine was transported to the hospital and was reportedly still there as of 10 p.m.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office had no suspects in the second shooting.
Waldrop said it did appear that the shootings were connected.
