NATCHEZ — Sheila Bates wants the criminals to know people are watching.
Bates called police to her house Sunday, after she discovered her car had been broken into and her wallet stolen. The car was parked at her Inez Street house.
Inez Street is near George F. West Boulevard.
“At first I summed it up to maybe I misplaced it,” Bates said. “But (I saw) the side back window was pried open.”
Bates lost $191, some CDs, credit cards and other personal identification.
She later discovered that her husband’s wallet — which was in a pair of pants — was missing from the house. The house shows no signs of forced entry, and Bates isn’t sure what happened.
“I want to let people know that we are watching out for each other now,” Bates said.
Police Chief Mike Mullins said his officer responded to Bates call Sunday afternoon.
