NATCHEZ — Kim Fields, the wife of Tony Fields and a guidance counselor at Robert Lewis Middle School, died Wednesday from unknown causes.
Fields, 29, had been sick for more than six months, friends said, but doctors had not been able to diagnose the problem.
She checked into Natchez Community Hospital Saturday night, but was transported to Jackson soon after.
“She was just special in all regards,” family friend George F. West Jr. said. “She was just a beautiful person with a beautiful personality. You couldn’t find a sweeter, more giving person.”
Fields has one son, Ernest “Tony” Fields IV, who is 4. He has battled with leukemia since age 2 and is still taking chemotherapy treatments, but has been healthy.
Her husband and son were life’s priorities for Kim Fields, family friend Debra Mitchell said. Tony Fields III is the assistant principal at Frazier Primary School and the music minister at Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church.
“Her biggest concern would be about her son and her husband,” said Mitchell, a church friend.
“She was a godly person. And she sang as well as her husband did.”
Kim Fields was active in church activities including Women in Ministry and the Missionary Society.
She was a native of Clinton.
Funeral arrangements have not been made.
