Centreville overcomes WCCA

WOODVILLE — The Centreville Tigers basketball squad didn’t start off well, but played good basketball when it counted.
The Tigers overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to come out of Woodville with a 59-56 victory over the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams.
The Rams held a 37-30 halftime lead after outscoring the Tigers in each of the first two quarters.
However, Centreville began its comeback in the third quarter by outscoring the Rams 15-9 to trim the lead to a single point.
The Tigers overcame that deficit in the fourth quarter, outscoring WCCA 14-10 in the final frame to escape with a four-point road victory.
Kyle Brown led the Tigers with 18 points while Cade Lockwood was right behind with 17. Adam Perry and Jamie Dezendorf helped the cause with eight points apiece.
WCCA was led by Todd Gonda’s 16 points while Trumaine Norwood scored 15 and George Davis tallied 12 in the loss.
Centreville girls 39, WCCA 29
The Centreville Lady Tigers overcame a three-point first quarter deficit to take a 10-point win over WCCA.
The Lady Tigers held only a one-point lead after three quarters but outscored the Lady Rams 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
Centreville’s Amber Addington led all scorers with 28 points.
WCCA was led by Allie Fontenot with 13 points and Hannah Ashley with nine.
