Four goats and four horses were seized form their owners Friday after allegedly suffering neglect.
The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society received a call about the condition of several horses on Mount Airy Plantation Road, humane society representative Don Winters said Friday.
“One had not had food for four days and was extremely dehydrated,” Winters said. “It has probably about a 50/50 chance of survival.”
The three other horses were in slightly better condition, he said.
“We’ll take the two worst horses to a Vidalia vet to stabilize them,” Winters said.
The four goats were not in as bad condition, though their hooves were badly cared for and curled up, he said.
“It just really gets to me the way people do this,” Winters said.
Winters urged anyone who knew about animal neglect or abuse to call the Adams County Sheriff’s Office at 601-442-2752, or the humane society at 601-442-4001
