Natchez DU banquet to be held Thursday

The Natchez-Adams County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold
its annual Duck’s Unlimited banquet at the Community Center on
Franklin St. at 6 p.m., Thursday Nov. 8.
Admission fee is $45 for adults and $25 for &uot;green wings&uot;
or children 15 and under.
As always, the annual membership in Duck’s Unlimited is included
in the fee.
Any ticket that is purchased prior to Tuesday will be placed
in the &uot;early bird&uot; drawing for a limited edition framed
print.
There will also be door prizes, including a pair of guns, that
will also be available in drawings that will be held at the event.
DU chairman Adrian Sandel said the chapter was hoping for a
turnout of 250-300 for the event.
A steak dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
Duck’s Unlimited’s mission is to fulfill the annual life cycle
needs of the North American waterfowl by protecting, enhancing,
restoring and managing important wetlands and associated uplands.
Today DU membership nationwide totals around 734,000.
Since its inception in 1937, nearly 1.4 billion has been raised
for waterfowl and waterfowl related conservation projects across
America.
In the state of Mississippi alone, 1,654 projects have been
completed and nearly 6.85 million has been spent on the various
projects to date.
The primary waterfowl species that have benefitted from DU
are: Mallards, wood, ring neck, canvasback, gadwall, America widgeon
and green-winged teal.
