Your church, your newspaper
Published Thursday, May 22, 2008
For years The Natchez Democrat slogan has been "Your life, your newspaper."
That's our way of saying that we are here to report your news. Our paper exists because of the community, and we work hard to include stories about the goings on of the people in our area.
We have many ways you can submit your news to us. The most basic is just to let us know by phone or e-mail.
But right now we are beginning a push to get more local church news in the newspaper.
Jennifer Edwards, a recent addition to the staff, is coordinating our weekly church pages, which publish in Saturday's editions.
Jennifer is calling all area churches to let them know that we want submitted photos from Bible school, Bible drill, senior adult trips, etc. We want to publish write-ups that let the community know about upcoming events at churches. And we want to include columns from local pastors.
But, you don't have to receive a phone call from us in order to submit your church news.
Simply pull out a digital camera and take a photo at the children's program. Write down the names (make sure you get them spelled correctly) and drop it by or e-mail it to church@natchezdemocrat.com. It's free.
Your church, your news.

I wasn wondering why ALL the area churches aren't listed in the Saturday paper? Ridgecrest Baptist Church is not in the listing.
