Look what the wind blew in

Published Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Weather stories of any kind always crop up at the worst time for us. But, weather effects all of you more than many stories do, so we see fit to cover it.

Between crazy winds Tuesday and the Ferriday police department, our staff was running.

And in the newspaper business, even the things we plan don't exactly turn out like we always hope. Tuesday brought troubles for a few of us and most of the staff of United Mississippi Bank. the art we'd planned on using for a feature story on the bank's weight loss program was lost in the computer world, never to be found again. Getting replacement art turned out not to be so easy. But thanks to the friendly folks at the bank and Agnes Holloway, we figured something out.

Two trips to local schools in search of a scale like you use in Chemistry class, two more trips to local sewing shops and one stop at Wal-Mart later, we came up with a plan for today's Life section.

Be sure to check out the story in today's Life section. That group lost an amazing amount of weight.

The storm just moved in on Adams County. Hopefully our community won't suffer any more damage than it already has.

The winds will calm soon.
