The newest tourist attraction

When weather experts started watching the Mississippi River weeks, even months, ago they said the water would be high.
But no one quite expected this.
The river has flooded Silver Street in a way that just makes locals say "Wow," and it's not done rising yet.
Even Mayor Phillip West took an afternoon stroll down the big hill Sunday just to look and take a few photos with his cell phone camera.
It's a bit like snow in Natchez .... it just doesn't happen all the time.
I'm about to send out a flood coverage plan to our staff at the newspaper. We'll attempt to answer all the questions you might come up with. But feel free to post ideas here and we'll try to cover all our bases.
The way I see it, this happens once a decade and fascinates nearly everyone. We plan to cover the river as much as we can.

I'd like to see some photo galleries. I was born and raised in Natchez so I visit here daily to see what is going on down there.
(Julie) From the wide array of talent at the ND, maybe some pictures would add some "glow" to the ND?
You need to come down on Bourke Road near the St. Catherine wildlife Refuge....we will soon be blocked off from our homes by the river.....
Yes please post more gallery photos as people from this area now living in other areas of the country want to see what's going on.
There's an article in the Concordia Sentinel on how to prepare for potential flooding:
