I am one of michael's teachers. It has been so very difficult to comprehend that he is gone and I won't see him walking down the hall or peeking into the window of my classroom door three or four times a day wanting to come in.
One of the students expressed her emotions by writing on the board that michael had one smile, one laugh, one walk and a big personality. She described him perfectly. This was micheal. He was very popular with the whole student body. Everyone loved him. He played every sport at the school. I can still remember the last day I saw him. It was Wednesday. He took his final exam in my class that day. When he finished, he told me , " I know I made a good grade on this test. It was easy because I studied my study guide." I praised him for that and gave him bubble gum. He loved bubble gum. Everyday he would help to clean the room after class just ot get some green flavor bubble gum. That was his favorite color. So therefore, I gave him the gum as usual and he ask to use the restroom. Not realizing he would make a couple of stops along the way. Several co-workers said he stopped by their class to say hello. I guess this was his farewell. Rest on michael, you will be greatly missed!!
Love Ms. Broadnax

My heart and prayers goes out to the Griggs and Garrison families. 12 years ago, Colleen and I both lost the father of our children. With the grace of God, they grew up knowing each other and spending time with each other. Colleen, I share this loss with you. Mike will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Jay is a spliting image of both. We love you!!!

Thanks Vidalia 1. I teach at Ferriday Junior High. At school on Friday there was not a dry eye in the whole building. He was so well liked until his death affected students at Vidalia Junior High also. My granddaughter goes to Vidalia Junior High and she said so many students were crying and upset about michael.

One memory of Mike that bring a smile to my face is the day when Erick and I came home and Shaquille had about eight of his friends over. They was watching TV, on the computer, eating, on the phone and one of them was even sleep. Mike was on the couch witn his feet up watching TV Erick started playing with him and he ran behind me and said "KeeKee tell Erick to leave me along". So I ask who all had a girlfriend, he was the first one to say me, and Shaq said "Come on lets go. Know matter how many boyz come to my house I always make them feel welcome because I knew that they were safe and most of the time Mike was the only one who answered my question about school or what they been up to.... Friday Shaq had about four friend over and I left the room because I felt that one was missing and I didn't want them to see me cry. To the Griggs (Colleen) and Garrison family your prayers help Erick and I when we lost our son and our prayers will surround you in you time of need. Mike your big smile will live on in our hearts. Sleep in peace baby boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Love Ya

I have relatives in MS and although I live in California, I happened across this tragic story on the internet. We probably aren't related, but I wanted to let you know how sorry I was to hear about the passing of this likeable and much loved young man. I trust that the Lord will keep you in His care and help you through the pain and suffering. Until you meet again, Michael will always be alive in your thoughts and hearts.

Now Mike was my round & if he was in any trouble I was there...If he told me. He was a very intelligent young man we were very cool, but with him being younger than me I had to get him in line sometimes. I loved him so much he was close to me, my cousin Jeremy, and friends Tonio, Tron, Adrain, & more.....
YOU ARE TRULY LOVED & MISSED BY EVERYONE!!!!!!

THIS DUDE LOVED PLAYING EVERY SPORT,MOSTLY FOOTBALL. MIKE ALWAYS SAID HE WANTED TO BE JUST LIKE HIS #1 PLAYER NUKE (TERRANCE JOHNSON).GOD ALREADY HAS EVERYTHING PLANNED OUT, THEREFORE, NUCK WAS KILLED 3 DAYS LATER ALONG WITH KEVIN KEYS. SO EVEN THOUGH HE NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO PLAY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL LIKE HIS STAR PLAYER, THEY ARE STILL IN HEAVEN PLAYING FOOTBALL TOGETHER. REST IN PEACE MIKE, NUKE, AND KEVIN.
