VHS students linked to Trinity vandalism

Published Tuesday, September 29, 2009

NATCHEZ — Six Vidalia High School students have been linked to last week’s vandalism of Trinity Episcopal Day School.

Natchez Police investigators identified the students at VHS Friday, Sgt. Craig Godbold said.

Even so, Trinity administrators will decide whether to press charges against the juvenile offenders.

Interim Head of school Jackie Ezell said the school is waiting for damage estimates before making a final decision.

Ezell and school board president Dr. Rod Givens were called to the school after police received a dispatch call at 2:19 a.m. Friday.

Damage included 14 broken double pane windows in the main high school building, obscene graffiti on the outside walls, sidewalks and Dumpsters, trash strewn across the grounds and toilet paper in the trees.

Ezell said window installations began Monday, and the work will likely be completed by Wednesday.
