Trinity’s R. J. Fleming goes up to make the interception Friday night against Central Private. The interception sealed the win for the Saints during the hard-fought homecoming victory.
Trinity coach says team must continue with intensity

NATCHEZ — The Trinity Episcopal School football team remains undefeated after it prevailed over Central Private 40-19 last Friday.
Trinity (6-0) was led in rushing by R.J. Fleming, who had 67 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Fleming also caught five passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
“I think we matched their intensity,” Trinity head coach David King said.
“They came in (to our place) fired up and played hard. I thought we showed some intestinal fortitude. We had some defensive stands and made some plays when we had to make them.”
The stout Trinity defense has performed well for several games in a row now, and King attributed the Saints’ defensive success to hard-nosed play.
“We have some physical kids, and they’re very aggressive,” King said. “We give up a big play every now and then just by being aggressive, but I like the way our kids come out and compete.
“We’re competing every snap, and now we just have to clean up some things in the defensive backfield in order to stop the big plays.”
King also said he thinks his team’s hunger has remained constant throughout the season so far, and that it’s a big key to them being undefeated.
“They’re excited about the next few weeks, playing teams like River Oaks, Brookhaven and Centreville,” King said. “I think these games will really test us, and that’s what you want.”
Elsewhere last Friday, Cathedral School remains winless on the season after falling to Sebastopol 26-13.
Cathedral (0-4) head coach Craig Beesley said it was a tale of two halves for his team.
“We were pleased with the way we played in the second half,” Beesley said. “We were pleased with Dylan White and Daniel Huffines, and what we were able to get them to do.”
White was 4-of-5 in passes for 75 yards and one interception. Huffines had four catches for 101 yards.
“Dylan does a good job of buying time and being a leader for the whole team,” Beesley said. “He settles all the other kids down and gets them focused on the right play at the right time.
“Daniel’s a playmaker on offense. If we can get him in one-on-one situations with defensive backs, he can be successful.”
Parklane Academy pounded Adams County Christian School 48-6 last Friday. ACCS’ lone touchdown came in the second quarter on a 5-yard carry by Brandon Sanders.
The Rebels (4-2) will host Riverdale Friday.
Natchez High School was unable to get on the scoreboard last as Meridian High School shut the Bulldogs out 35-0.
Natchez quarterback Javon Washington finished 14-of-24 in passes for 106 yards and one interception. He was also sacked six times.
Natchez (3-2) will host Oak Grove Friday.
