Parklane too strong for ACCS

Published Saturday, September 26, 2009

MCCOMB — The Adams County Christian School Rebels had to deal with not only a good team in Class AAA Parklane, but they also had to deal with the elements.

Chance Schmidt had a touchdown run and a touchdown catch while Josh Armstreet had two touchdown runs to lead the Pioneers to a 48-6 win over the Rebels Friday night.

Schmidt scored on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Steven Swindle and he later added a 25-yard touchdown run as Parklane (3-2) jumped out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Armstreet scored on a 2-yard run to give the Pioneers a 21-0 lead before ACCS (4-2) broke through on a 5-yard run by Brandon Sanders. The extra point was no good and the Rebels still trailed 21-6. Then the Pioneers went right back to work as Swindle connected with Micah Moore on a 52-yard touchdown pass to give them a commanding 28-6 halftime lead.

Parklane put the game away with a 20-point third quarter. Armstreet scored on a 5-yard run, Tanner McDaniel scored on a 10-yard run, and Jack Kitaif scored on a 1-yard run.

The early part of the game was delayed for several minutes due to lightning and heavy rain.
