FERRIDAY — Lake Providence scored a touchdown with two seconds left in the game to give the Panthers a 27-24 upset win over the Ferriday Trojans in a District 2-2A game Friday night.

“(We had) mental mistakes, penalties, penalties, penalties and just lack of execution,” Ferriday head coach Freddie Harrison said. “We didn’t execute offensively or defensively. They jumped on us 15-0 before we knew what hit us.”

Lake Providence improved to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in district play while Ferriday had its six-game winning streak snapped and fell to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Block 55, Montgomery 6

MONTGOMERY, La. — Block scored on offense, defense and special teams en route to an easy win over Montgomery Friday night to stay undefeated in District 3-1A.

“We ran on them. I wanted to pass some,” Block head coach Benny Vault Jr. said. “We came out focused and we played well. We put a lot of pressure on them. Watching film, they throw about 90 percent of the time. We’ve got to cut down on the penalties.”

Vashawn Davis had a couple of touchdown runs, Trey Vault scored on a 50-yard kickoff return after Montgomery tried an onside kick on the game’s opening kickoff, Preston Bowman returned two interceptions for touchdowns and Denman Evans scored on an interception return.

Block improved to 3-5 overall and 3-0 in district play while Montgomery fell to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in district play.
