TWENTY YEARS AGO — Bill Whidden of Tallahassee, Fla., finishes in first place overall based on a point system to win the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race, the fourth straight year a pilot named Bill is the winner.

TEN YEARS AGO — WCCA running back Stephens McVea finishes with 25 carries for 162 yards and two touchdowns as the Rams rally from a 12-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Trinity Saints 20-12.

FIVE YEARS AGO — Timmy Foster has 106 yards passing and a touchdown while Brock Vines has two rushing TDs as ACCS defeats Riverfield 35-17 to secure a playoff berth and its first winning season since 1989.
