NFD fills their boots to help MDA

Natchez — Natchez citizens showed their support for those affected by Muscular Dystrophy by supporting the Natchez Fire Department’s Fill the Boot Campaign. For the second year this department has hit the streets to help families in Mississippi defeat neuromuscular diseases.

MDA helps children and adults who are affected by any of the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA’s comprehensive medical services and research programs. MDA receives no government funding and charges no fees to the families served.

“We are always to do what we can to help out our community”, said Chief Oliver Stewart of the Natchez Fire Department.

The departments also host other events such as fire safety presentations, and school presentations during Fire Prevention Week.

All three shifts participated in the Fill the Boot campaign to spread awareness of MD as well as raise more than $1,500 to help provide services and research for more than 600 families in Mississippi dealing with Muscular Dystrophy.
