Jones receives teaching award at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE — Shanetra Jones of Natchez recently received an Outstanding Teacher Intern Award for her performance during her teaching internship during the spring 2009 semester at Mississippi State University.

Outstanding Teacher Intern awards are given to teacher interns who go above and beyond expectations. Teacher interns are nominated by their supervising classroom mentor teachers for this award.

Jones received recognition for her resourcefulness, initiative and effectiveness throughout teaching internship.

Interns receiving the awards were selected because of their outstanding teaching performance in their assigned kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms.

Teacher interns receiving this award demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to the teaching profession.

Jones completed her internship in elementary education in the Louisville School District in third and sixth grade.

Following her placements, she was highly recommended by her classroom mentor teachers, Sherry Bartlett and Colandra Curry.

Jones is the daughter of Michael Thomas and Emily Jones and the granddaughter of Barbara Latham.
