Wanted man turns himself in
Published Monday, June 1, 2009
VIDALIA — The Ferriday man wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer is behind bars after he turned himself in Saturday night.
Michael Donnell Haley Jr., 20, 808 Alabama Ave., was booked on charges of first-degree attempted murder and resisting an officer Saturday at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Haley was wanted for an incident last Tuesday in which he allegedly fired several shots at a Ferriday police officer while fleeing arrest.
The officer was attempting to arrest Haley in connection with an earlier complaint about a subject — who police identified as Haley — who was flashing a weapon in the Eighth Street area.
Ferriday Assistant Police Chief Johnny Evans said Haley decided to turn himself in after a near-capture Friday night.
In that incident, authorities had been able to track Haley to a Vidalia motel, but when they arrived Haley had just left, apparently in a hurry.
“That time, somebody must have tipped him off, because when they got there his food was still on the table, and it was still hot,” Evans said. “He didn’t even have time to turn off his microwave.”
Haley was detained without bond Sunday.

Glad to see that he is off the streets. He is very dangerous and should be locked up permanently.

Glad he turned himself in, because Ferriday Police could not catch a blind convict in a wheelchair.
