Police searching for stolen vehicle

Published Friday, July 24, 2009

NATCHEZ — Natchez police are searching for a vehicle stolen on Main Street in the parking lot of Biscuits and Blues Thursday, July 17.

Natchez Police Sgt. Craig Godbold said the victim was leaving work at approximately 2 a.m. and saw that his 2001 blue Kia Sportage was missing.

The victim had the keys on his person, so how the vehicle was stolen, Godbold said is unknown.

“We don’t have leads on it right now, but we’re working on it,” he said.

I watched a show with a reformed car thief showing how easy it was to steal a car. So the tv shows crew parked a car in downtown New York, locked with one of those bars on the steering wheel. Armed with only a slim Jim (a device that unlocks doors)and a hacksaw and screwdriver he opened the door cut the steering wheel in half jammed the ignition and was gone in 23 seconds. My dad used to say "locks are for keeping an honest man honest because a thief don't care."

If they want it, they will get it. Locking the doors, installing a security system in your car if you don't have one, are all only deterrents and only keeps the lazy thief away. For the thief with tenacity, it will only slow them down. Of course, if caught during the act, they subject themselves to whatever outcome is inflicted upon them.

I will bring the car back when I am done. I just hate to walk.

What's the crime here? The fact that someone stole it or it being a Kia?..... Everyone has a windup crank key to insert in the back to get those Hot Wheels started!!!!

Ace, ahahahaha! My vote is that it's a crime that it was a Kia. Good stuff
