Historical games to liven up Melrose grounds Saturday

Published Thursday, July 2, 2009

NATCHEZ — Natchez National Historical Park Rangers encourage all children ages 8 to 12 to participate in this week’s Junior Ranger Program titled “Historical Games.”

This interactive program will be at Melrose from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday and allows children to learn about and participate in games of the mid-1800s.

The Historical Games program will be repeated on Tuesday and is one of a series of Junior Ranger programs on Saturdays and Tuesdays throughout June and July.

New program topics will be introduced each week.

Please visit the park’s Web site at www.nps.gov/natc under the “schedule of events” for an up-to-date program listing.

These are free programs and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pre-registration forms can be obtained at the Melrose visitor center or by visiting the “for kids” link on our Web site. Bring these completed forms on the day of the program to participate on a first come first serve basis.

These forms only need to be completed once to cover any Junior Ranger Summer Program attended throughout June and July 2009.

For more information about these programs, please call Ron Merrill at 601-446-5790, Ext. 14.

For other activities and events at Natchez National Historical Park, including Melrose and the William Johnson House, please call 601-446-5790 or visit www.nps.gov/natc.
