WOODVILLE — A body was found inside a burning truck in Wilkinson County Friday night, and investigators said they do not definitively know the identity of the dead man.

A white Chevrolet Silverado was found burning outside the Illusions Gentlemen’s Club at approximately 7 p.m. Friday.

Volunteers with the Wilkinson County Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and found the man’s body in the driver’s seat.

Illusions is located on U.S. 61 south of Woodville, right across the street from the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office.

Wilkinson County Coroner Nolan Thompson said he arrived on the scene after the fire had been extinguished at approximately 9 p.m. Friday.

Thompson said the body was too badly burned for facial recognition, and that DNA testing would have to determine the identity of the man.

“That might take a couple of days,” Thompson said.

Thompson said the autopsy was begun Monday morning, but had not yet determined a cause of death.

The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death, but would not  return phone calls.
