ACCS shuts out Prentiss Christian

NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School got off to a good start and never looked back as it shut out Prentiss Christian School 41-0 in both team’s Mississippi Association of Independent School District 5-AA opener.
Lester Wells took the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown, getting the Rebels off to a roaring start Friday night.
Late in the first quarter, ACCS added two more touchdowns to go up 21-0 at the end of one. Parker Rymer scored on a 20-yard pass from Tyler Stockstill with 3:28 left in the first, and Stockstill ran an interception 25 yards for a touchdown with 29.8 seconds remaining in the quarter.
In the second quarter, ACCS scored its other three touchdowns, with Torrey Smith’s 19-yard carry leading the way at the 8:52 mark in the second. Wells added another touchdown to his night on a 56-yard run, his only rushing attempt of the night.
Chisum Mardis scored ACCS’s final touchdown of the day on a 41-yard run with 1:28 to go before intermission.
Smith tallied 24 rushing yards on two carries, and Mardis finished with 39 yards on three carries, factoring in negative gains on his non-touchdown rushes. Stockstill was 3-for-8 in passing for 40 yards, and Carlos Woods finished 1-for-4 in passing for 31 yards.
Parker Rymer led the Rebels in receptions with 55 yards on three catches, and Wells had a catch for 16 yards.
Defensively, Brandon Ross continued to rack up tackles, tallying nine tackles, two assists and one sack. Matthew Rymer had eight tackles and two assists.
ACCS (5-1, 1-0) will face Glenbrook School Friday for homecoming.
